Price more than doubled in 6 months! Disappointing! It's too bad that Elta MD more than doubled the price of this product in less than 6 months. My dermatologist recommended this for our family's fair skin and it worked great until they jacked the price from $19.95 to $47.50 for ONLY 7 oz.!!!! I went to reorder on Amazon and was in shock. Good bye Elta MD. It was nice when the middle class could afford to use this. 1Rubs in Quickly and cleanly with little to no residueLOVE this stuff. Recommended by my dermatologist and cheaper on here than what she sells it for. :) Well worth the money. If I pay 1/8 of the price for over the counter brand sunscreen and it doesn't get used by the rest of the family, then am I really saving any money? I use the EltaMD for face or Obagi sunscreen for myself on a daily basis (arms and neck and chest for driving in traffic) because I have melasma on my face and neck, but this summer I purchased this for use on an island primitive camping trip. No shade on the island unless we were inside of our HOT tent, so we were exposed for 3 days straight and in and out of the ocean trying to stay cool. Not only did this keep us from burning BUT it goes on and dries so quickly that my 16 year old son who normally will avoid wearing sunscreen due to its sticky feeling, actually walked over several times a day and put this on his arms, neck, face, legs,feet and back himself. That speaks volumes for how great this is.My 16 year old comes into my bathroom to use it daily now for marching band practice. It has a convenient pump that gives just enough to slather on the right amount for a limb or torso so you know you aren't using too little.Rubs in quickly and smoothly with little to no feeling afterwords.Super Lightweight on the skin. It is water/sweat resistant as it claims and doesn't have you smelling like sunscreen or sand, gnats and other gunk sticking to your body because you are sticky.Highly recommend this product, especially if you have an aversion to wearing daily sunscreen like I do.5The BEST! My holy grail of sunscreens! This delivers everything I need in a sunscreen. It does not stain clothing. It is fragrance-free. It does not irritate my super-sensitive skin. It disappears on my skin, no heavy, white grease. Blends right in. It stays on. I am a very active person who is frequently outdoors and I sweat a LOT. I am also a very pale redhead and everyone knows what happens to redheads in the sun.I can't say enough good things about this stuff, other than the price tag is pretty hefty, but it's worth it. 5Best sunscreen for darker skin/People of Color. No White Cast No WHITE CAST AT ALL!I'm a die hard user of sunscreen but as an African American woman most Physical sunscreens give a horrible white cast either alone or in combination with foundation/powder. I've tried 100% chemical sunscreen and find them too greasy or broke me out. My dermatologist recommended EltaMD and I will never use anything else.I like that this sunscreen is SPF 50, that it has no white cast on my darker skin and that it is water-resistant. An added bonus is that there is no stinging if I rub my eyes after application. This is my HOLY GRAIL sunscreen. EltaMD please never discontinue this product or change the formula!I use about a pea size amount which is all you need for your face and neck. I rub it on my face and neck in an upward fashion and within seconds it is absorbed. Initially there is a shine to my face, but that is gone within a minute or so. No white cast at all and it plays nice with my other face products. I don't have any problem layering this with my primer, foundation and/or pressed powder. I apply my sunscreen first, then my primer, them my foundation or powder.I wear sunscreen daily, I never leave the house without it and after talking with others, I wear it when I'm in front of my laptop screen for long periods of time.I hope this review helped you and thanks for reaading!5Works better than anything else I've ever tried. My dermatologist recommended I use this sun block because I am super pale and I got REALLY burned at the beach a few years back. I do a lot of theme parking here in Orlando, and using this sunblock (applying just once in the morning), I never burn. I will notice a little darkening after a full day, but it's barely noticeable. I highly recommend this sunblock. (Picture included to show exactly how pale I am) 5Answer to the acne prone skin prayerI have bought this product over and over. I searched for years for a sunscreen that wouldn't cause me to breakout like a 16 year old kids going through puberty and I finally found EltaMD. I am extremely fair skinned and love being out in the sun but burn quite easily. Since finding this product I don't think I have had a sunburn. We spend a week on a houseboat each year and I apply this every couple of hours and my friends and family are amazed that I come back just as "pale" as when I left...I consider that a compliment :-). The only downside that I have seen with this product is simple to overcome. It is hard to wash off. I have found that I simply have to lather twice to get it off. It doesn't cause discoloring of your cloths and doesn't have a strong smell.5VERY good sunscreenThis stuff just works. It contains a ridiculously fine (as in small particle size) type of zinc oxide instead of some more questionable chemicals to block burning UV. When I first heard about it, I thought this was just an updated version of that ugly white stuff all the lifeguards used years ago to keep their noses from falling off before August - but it is really invisible. OK, it might lighten your complexion very slightly if you look very closely, but if you don't tell anyone I'll bet they'll never notice. It seems not to be absorbed into the skin and broken down like virtually every other sunscreen out there, so unless you do manage to wash it off swimming or doing some serious sweating, it will last (and work) for hours.5Simply the Best! I researched the heck out of sun block lotions before trying this and the other top products on the market. EltaMD is clearly the best of the best. I have very fair skin and I'm in the Sun all day in Southern California. After 3 years of use I've never once gotten sunburn at all. In addition, it goes on much easier than the other products that have this level of protection. It's not near as thick and goes clear very quickly. The amazing part for me is that with using this product almost everyday, it last a really long time (4-6 months). So price is good based on how long it lasts and that it does it's job really well. I used to pay $45 for the 7oz. Now it's often in the high $20's or low $30's.I only apply it once in the morning and never again all day running around. On tropical vacations it stays on great in the water as well. I have fairly sensitive skin, but this has never caused me to breakout or have any irritation issues.Just an FYI... It works! 5Comfortable to use on face, not greasy or oily I was diagnosed with melanoma recently (at age 35) which is likely due to my years of recreational sun exposure with inadequate use of sunscreen. I've never been a sunbather or used tanning beds. I am now a long distance runner and spend hours running in the sun and have struggled to find something to use on my face that doesn't feel heavy or like I've got a layer of plastic wrap on my face, and that lasts longer than my usual face lotion with SPF that is not water/sweat proof. Although this product is expensive, it is very comfortable to wear on your face/neck/ears. It does not feel greasy. It does have a cloying sweet scent, but I'll take that over the greasy feel of the sunscreen that I use on the rest of my body. The bottle is bigger than what I thought I was getting but I'll still stick to using this just on my face and the cheaper stuff on the rest of my body. 5High quality, great product, EXCESSIVE PRICE INCREASE This spf 50 is the best I've tried, and I try many lotions/ sunscreens. (Dr. Obagi is just at good but pricey). I'm writing this review in May 2017- about this May 2015 purchase. The product itself is amazing and does not leave your skin looking white or blue, like some products which contain zinc oxide/titanium dioxide; however the price has DRASTICALLY increased and I'm very disappointed. I paid $28.20 for this 7 oz bottle in 2015 and just reluctantly purchased it in 2017 for $48.50. I've emailed Elta MD but have not heard back 3-5 days later. Elta MD is high quality but the price increases of all their products are excessive. I use many of their lotions and love them all. I'm hoping more men/women express dissatisfaction with regard to the price increases in hopes this will change. 5The sunscreen doesn't give off a white cast like most others which is nice I have very sensitive skin. I have also had a handful of incidents where my face started burning like crazy after I started to sweat and I had to immediately go wash my face and pat it with cold cloths to relieve the burning sensation. The smell is not good either. Every surface that had this sunscreen on, developed a burning rash that peeled afterwards. I have used the tinted facial EltaMD without problems. The ingredients are different. 1we fortunately landed on EltaMD SPF 50 My son is a year-round swimmer and practices in the afternoon sun for more than 2 hours a day, in addition to 4 morning practices and frequent weekend swim meets. Naturally, sunscreen is a big part of his daily routine. After using and ditching many, many sunscreens over the years, we fortunately landed on EltaMD SPF 50. This is his favorite, and he would not use any other brands.The consistency allows it to spread easily. It's slightly oily and white when applied, but after a few minutes it absorbs well, no longer white or oily.It keeps him from sun burn especially during swim meets where he is in the sun for a whole day. 5Gave me a rash While this may work well for some/most people, I had an allergic reaction in Hawaii when I tried it. Wound up with a red, itchy rash everyone I had put the sunscreen. I had to stop using it, take benadryl and apply an antihistamine cream while I waited a good 24-48 hours for it to go away. Then I had to buy a different sunscreen. So sad because it's crazy expensive. Patch tested it once more and had same reaction. So, this is clearly not an allergy-free sunscreen. 1
